’What? I’m a game character now?’
What Pick Me Up! Is About
Loki is the fifth-ranked Master in the world in a gacha game known for its atrocious difficulty. While raiding a dungeon, he loses consciousness and wakes with a shocking realisation: he is now a game character himself.
That twist drives the series. Loki keeps his expert understanding of the game’s systems and strategies, but now he has to apply them from the inside. He has to rely on his tactical mind to survive dungeons that he knows are designed to be punishing.
Tone and Themes
Pick Me Up! is more tactical than a simple power fantasy. The story leans on planning, party management and difficult choices, with moments of dark humour about gacha mechanics. Themes include leadership, responsibility for others and seeing a game from the side of the characters.
Who Should Read Pick Me Up!?
Gamers, especially anyone who has played gacha titles, will catch many of the jokes and references. It also suits readers who like strategic dungeon crawls and found-team dynamics. Expect fantasy violence and tense survival moments.

Where to Start Pick Me Up!
Start with the first chapter, which shows Loki’s fall into the game and his first look at the world from a character’s point of view. The early dungeons explain how the gacha system and hero roster work, so beginning there makes later strategies much easier to follow. The tension builds steadily from arc to arc, and many chapters end on cliffhangers, which makes it an easy series to binge in order. Pay attention to the hero roster early on, since the bonds Loki forms with them carry much of the story’s emotional weight.
